Family counselling

Family therapy works with family struggles, difficulties and transitions. Tracy works with specific family members, or the entire family, depending on what is required. Tracy works systematically in highlighting strengths of the family system as well as areas that need attention.

The NICE guidelines recommend family therapy for alcohol and substance misuses as well as other addictions. Family therapy can be effective for working with systemic transitions such as step parenting, and responding to elderly parent’s needs and transitions. Tracy works flexibly in combining individual therapy and will sometimes suggest bringing in the family to support individual needs to help the family work together in a productive way that reflects the family’s values.

In addition to her clinical work in this field, Tracy is a guest lecturer for doctoral students in systematic family therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University.

These services can be accessed in Edinburgh, more broadly in Scotland or online over video or telephone.
